A Little Patience Goes A Long Way

Ibn Rajab – rahimahullaah – said: (1)
…and it’s incumbent upon the believer to have a little patience
in order to reach by way of it to a lengthy rest.

If he gets impatient then he is,
as has been said by Ibn al-Mubaarak:

Whoever exercises patience,
then how little is the patience he will have to exercise.
And whoever is impatient,
then how little is the enjoyment he will have.

al-Imaam ash-Shaafi’ee – rahimahullaah -
used to recite (the following verses of poetry):

“O my soul! It is not, except a few days of patience;
As if the extent were but a few dreams.
O my soul! Pass quickly on through this world;
And leave it, for indeed life lies ahead of it.”

Moderate Muslim

I am a moderate Muslim
I don’t pray 5 times a day
Only jummah is enough for me
I don’t fast the full thirty
Five is how many I do

Yes I drink
But only in moderation
I don’t get drunk or puke up in the loo
Yes I am a moderate Muslim

I check out the fit women
But only one at a time
I don’t sleep with them
Coz that’s extreme
I only date them, hug them, hold hands and kiss them.
Coz everything in moderation right?

I take drugs
But only class C ones
Avoid the hard ones
Coz only the fanatics do that

A moderate Muslim is the label I have given myself
Coz I can’t leave Islam
Coz it’s the truth
Can’t be an atheist or secular humanist

So I reconcile my Islam
To please the westerners
By compromising
And trying oh so very hard to fit in

My name is Muhammed
But to all and sundry I am Mo
During lunch and after work
Off to the pub I go
A few bevies
Nothing to heavy
Every weekday
Except for Fridays
Coz that’s a holy day

Despite all my compromises of my Islam
I cannot find any peace of mind or satisfaction in my heart
I feel guilty and ashamed
Feelings of nausea and self hate

My mind is in conflict and I find myself asking a question
Maybe to this you can relate
The question is

If you’re convinced of Islam then why follow it in moderation?
Should you not follow it completely and fundamentally?
Despite what the non-Muslims think or say
Coz who are they to tell us how we should follow the truth
When they are lost and following the misguidance.

Controlling the Gaze

A poet has pertinently described the evil of letting loose and not controlling ones gaze, and it aptly applies to watching TV and movies:

كل الحوادث مبداها من النظر ... ومعظم النار من مستصغر الشرر

والمرء ما دام ذا عين يقلبها ... في أعين العين موقوف على الخطر

كم نظرة فعلت في قلب فاعلها ... فعل السهام بلا قوس ولا وتر

يسر ناظره ما ضر خاطره ... لا مرحباً بسرور عاد بالضرر

Translation:

All evil occurrences begin with ones glance,

And most fires are caught by (negligence of) those who deem sparks insignificant.

A man remains in danger as long as his eyes scrutinize the eyes of (beautiful) women with large (gorgeous) eyes,

How many a glance has done to the heart the same as what an arrow would do -- without any bow or string.

The one glancing is pleased with what harms his inner self.

No thanks to pleasure that brings harm.

Blaming God

There you go again blaming God for your problems
You were created with faults but you also have a conscience

The Children of Adam are born to toil and be tested
You fail to internalize that and resent it

Just Chilling

Time is passing
But life I’m living
Drug taking
Getting high
Escaping reality
But loving the feeling
Brain cells killing
But definitely chilling

Women chasing
Clubbing and dancing
Someone else’s woman touching
Swearing and fighting
Escaping and running
Yeah I’m just chilling

My women texting
Loving and romancing
Expressing love and playing
Using and hurting
It’s a game that I’m playing

Flirting and falling in love
Daydreaming and grieving
And moving on
To the next gal

Jummah missing
Too cool and busy for praying
Time for that when I’m retiring
Parents advise ignoring
What do they know about fun and chilling?

Joyriding and accelerating
Music blasting
Friends dying
Crying and janazah praying
Life is passing
But I’m just chilling

Drifting and sleeping
Going with the flow
Signs of Allah ignoring
My purpose in life denying
Yes I’m sleepwalking
Like a zombie

Slowly realising
Incidents connecting
It’s Allah that’s controlling
Ya! Allah please guide me
From destruction and eternal punishment

Busy with Dunya?

A poet said:
"O he who is busy with his dunya
Whom illusions of a long lifetime have deluded;
Was he not in a state of heedlessness, until his appointed time drew near?
Verily death arrives suddenly,
and the Grave is the collection-box of actions.
Be patient over the dunya and its hardships,
No death is there except at one’s appointed time."

Defeat Your Ignorance

Wearing hijab is wajib it's true,*
but I have a question for you,
do you think that's all you must do?
Do you think your faith should be limited,

to cloth that protects your innocence?
Do you think you are not bound to the responsibility
of inner knowledge and humility?

Do you think that your job is done,
when you do the 5 pillars and vow to only one?
No sister, theres so much more that must be done,

finding your faults is what truly makes you brave,
RasulAllah said "seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave"

fill your mind with amazing names, Adam, Ibrahim, Nuh and Issa;
Khadija, Ali, Ammar, Jaafar, Fatima...
the list is endless and so is their eman,
theres a reason why Islam came to an illiterate man.

Theres a reason why Gabriels first word in the cave was "Ikra'a"
God gave you this brain with all its complexities
don't limit it to magazines, tv, and perplexity.

You are the best of his creations so thank his eminence
theres no greater thank you than to defeat your ignorance.

Manal Mourad

Do You Know

My body is stretched, it's cracked, it's breaking
My muscles, my tendons, my body is aching
My arm fights my leg, my heart fights my head
My organs protest - they are turning to lead
I have but one body and it is divided,
Each part of it arguing, each argument one sided
The pain is excruciating - or at least it would be
If my nerves were connected, if my eyes could see
My body is numb, my mind in denial -
Well it's not going to matter in a little while.

Anybody know what this 'body' represents?

Someone Somewhere

Sometimes in Life we feel so Blue
But someone somewhere is not as Happy as you

Somewhere Far at the Border when a soldier sleeps
Missing his loved ones he silently weeps

Somewhere a Mother painfully sighs coz
Her newborn baby did not open her eyes

Somewhere a poor dad silently cries
when he sees his son begging for a bowl of Rice

Somewhere in an Orphnage a Little girl is Sad
When she misses her mom & dad

So at Times a Reason to smile U may not have any
Just say to yourself that U are happier than Many

Coz life is Beautiful & its not always Blue
and someone somwhere is not as Happy You..

I Yearn Not To Feel

I yearn not to feel,
not to experience this pain

This emotion that breaks me,
and makes me whole once again

Sitting beside the memories, that cause me to go insane
I wish they would fall from me, like clouds cry tears of rain

Holding on to the time passed by -
but for how long
will you keep playing the same songs?

Scared to let go? Aren't we all.
Scared to realise that this is a lie,
but then why does it seem so real?

I yearn not to feel...

Oscillations

They said it was constant, it simply never breaks.
To others that said, a major one is all it takes.

Such is the speech, of deviants from long ago.
But it certainly oscillates, that we do know.

And with it a hand, the pendulum of a clock.
Come the day that it stops.. an uninvited knock.

The trouble is where, will one be when it ends.
On the life that one lived, the answer depends.

It's not just their actions, it's the way that they thought.
For glowing mountains of deeds, they can still be for naught.

But that's another subject, let's talk about this swing.
For it really is, a most troubling thing.

So why is it that, one day we pray five.
We are so happy, it feels great to be alive.

Then come the next day, our limbs weigh a ton.
"It's asr you say? I thought thuhr just begun!"

It could be for, a variety of reasons.
Certainly we all have our inner demons.

But what if it was, that a good deed with pride.
Is more of a danger, than the sins that we hide.

So we didn't show the others, that's not what this is about.
It's on an inner level, that we claimed we were devout.

We sometimes forget, we all have a past.
We do a good deed, we forget this so fast.

Remember yourself, and what your Lord has still granted.
If you ever did good, it was something He planted.

So thank him humbly, and hope for the best.
Yes even our good deeds can be upon us a test.

It's a troubling matter, something to think about.
A possible explanation, for those sudden spells of drought.

Fitra

In The Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

All Praise be to the one who Created us;
There are some who make His existence a fuss;
Those who disbelieve in Him, they are in Loss;

In this life we have a test;
The question: whose fear of Allah is the best?
To worship him is our quest.

Time and Time again we are faced with situations;
In which we must make tough decisions;

Fools are we, we think we're so smart;
shaytan attacks us with many ideas like darts;
According to him, we plan and chart;
Not knowing that he is poisoning our hearts;
The time comes when we realize the mistake in our Parts;
One last chance!, for some the tauba starts;

Even still, some don't ask of His Forgiveness;
They don't realize that they're in a big mess;
Never do they ask of Allah's Mercy;
They have eyes, but can they really see?;

There are also the righteous however;
Forget to ask Allah?, NEVER!;
They ask Allah in every endeavor;
To help them as part of His Favor;
Then, even if they are affected by Shaytans call;
They are not hurt by the hard fall;
They quickly get back up, standing tall;
Racing to gain forgiveness from The Merciful;
Allah promised to answer the caller's call;

Take a lesson from the fitra of the child;
With the lesson of walking they are trialed;
Yes, they do fall, but they are not beguiled;
They get back up and take a step;
Maybe again they accidentally trip;
But they stand up again and get a grip;
More and more steps take place;
Before you realize it, they are walking with so much grace;

An example for us, as we grow in our age and Deen;
Like the baby, hard challenges we have seen;
As the baby walks with so much grace;
We should also pick up our pace;
We are travelers, there is no question;
To Allah is our ultimate destination!

May the Prayers and blessings of Allah be on His beloved;
and on the companions who prayed and strived;
That the Deen of Allah might be carried on to those who came later;
On high thrones will they be raised in the hereafter;

When I Was Ill

I was feeling ill

Solution was the pill
If only it could make me recover
In a spilt, like the Creator

The adhan was heard calling
The water for wudhu' was cool freezing
Wiz His name I began my prayer
To HIM i submit and surrender

To the bed i jumped again
Nothing else to bargain
Covering myself wiz blankets
I was asleep as though in casket

Dreams brought me far
To an island offshore
I saw a bird flying
I thought of many things

I tried to catch the bird
Till i fall down like dirt
And i could not get up
There was no one to help out

I cry a lot but there wasn't any tear
I was left all alone in my own fear
I was awake from the loud sound "vroom"
Alhamdulillah i was safe in my room

A sparrow flew on to my window sill
Making sound behind the grill
It was the same bird as in my dream
But only real this time it seem

I get up and walk towards the window
And the bird was quiet for a minute over
I saw a man starting his bike noisily
Disturbing the bird especially

And now I notice why didn't the bird fly
Just like when i'm ill, i could only lie
It's wing was injured badly
Perhaps by someone or accidentally

SubhanAllah I was thinking
How much ni'mat He has been giving
To ponder upon HIS creatings
Animals wiz four legs, others wiz wings.

I thought how wonderful Allah is
Everything around me is really His
I realise how much lucky i am
I'm still able to move around

Thank ya Allah for all that Ya give
The illness Ya bestow is indeed a gift
Every illness comes wiz His forgiveness
May He grants us mercy and easness

Ameen

No Matter How Down We Feel

No matter how down we feel
And how much the sadness is real
We are willing to go the way
Even if the goal seems far away

Our aim is clear
And there is nothing to fear
Allah (swt) will help us surely
If we obeyed Him truly

There is nothing so hard
We just have to cross the yard
So let us do what we should
Or try to do what we could
Why not? What else shall we do?
Come on let us drive through and through

Are you happy with what we are?
I'm asking Muslims near and far
Don't you think it is enough?
Talking about silly stuff
Isn't it time to wake
And give more than we take?

I'd leave the answers for you
And wait to see what we'll do...

Do You...

by Junayd Makda

Do you hear the cry of a broken heart
Someone who's life has been torn apart
Adying child, in pain calling out
Hoping his voice to be heard far out

Do you not picture blood being shed
No doubt more merciless then read or said
Do you not feel for the lonely mother?
An orphan for whom no one will bother

Do you not know what the reason is?
Islam at rise-thats what it is!
As the world joins forces against Islam
Show the Muslims help-by leaving Islam?

Should they adapt their styles and follow their ways
And turn their back on the Prophetic ways?
Continue to follow their desires' call
And not give a bother to the enemy's call

The time has come for Muslims to awake
Understand what is really at stake
There's only one way for us to come back
And this is no doubt the best way to attack

Soul search and look deep within
Ensure you leave each and every sin
Show the world the beauty held in Islam
Attract them towards the sweetness of Iman

This is the day when Islam will regain
The respect it once deservingly attained.

Turn to Allah

When you have a terrible day
You just want to scream
just turn to Allah

When your feeling so down
you have lost all hope
just turn Allah

when your feeling betrayed
you just want to curse
just turn to Allah

when you can't see a way out
of a terrible situation
just turn to Allah

when your feeling like
you have no self esteem
just turn to Allah

when your feeling all OK and
the world is at your feet
just remember not to forget Allah
you can then be certain he will remember you !

Allah

When things are down
And you are out of your mind
Remember just remember
Allah is The Kind.

When your life is in darkness
And nothing is right
Remember just remember
Through the darkness,
Allah is The Light.

When nothing makes sense
And your heading for demise
Remember just remember
It doesn't make sense, but Allah is The Wise.

When times are troubled
And no one seems to care
Remember just remember
Allah won't hurt you, He is The Fair.

When your heart is breaking
And your pain makes you fall
Remember just remember Allah Sees it all.

When you are weak
And the road seems long
Remember just remember
Seek strength from The Strong.

When life is a burden
And everything is unstable
Remember just remember
Allah is The Able.

When the way is cloudy
And there is no one by your side
Remember just remember
Allah is The Only Guide.

When no one wants to listen
Or is willing to lend an ear
Remember just remember
Allah is always ready to hear.

When you are poor and penniless
And you are stuck in a niche
Remember just remember
Allah is The Rich.

When you are down in your misery
And there is nowhere to run
Remember just remember
You can always run to The One.

And when your scars are hurting
And your heart is in fear
Remember just remember
Allah is really here.

Allah Knows Best

Allah knows what’s best for us
So why should we complain
We always want the sunshine
But He knows there must be rain

We always want the laughter
And the merriment of cheer
But our hearts will lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear.

Allah tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow
He tests us not to punish us
But to help us meet tomorrow

For growing trees are strengthened
If they withstand the storm
And the sharp cut of the chisel
Gave the marble grace and form

Allah tests us often
And for every pain He gives to us
Provided we’re patient
Is followed by rich again

So whenever we feel that everything is going wrong
It is just Allah’s way
To make our spirit’s strong.
